UTPA Welcomes You to the 8th Annual HESTEC Community Day This year we are featuring more than 100 food, arts and crafts, and game booths. HEB will be doing giveaways every 15 minutes of the day. We'll have educational presenters and remember not to miss the live performance by Puerto Rico's own Angel y Khriz! So bring all the family and enjoy this great free event on the UTPA campus. Don't forget to stop by the HEB Planetarium, it's always free and open to the family. |
Performing at 8:00 p.m. on the Main Stage
Angel y Khriz are a Puerto Rican reggaeton duo, consisting of Ángel Rivera Guzmán and Christian Colón. They work largely with Luny Tunes. They were introduced in 2002 in the CD MVP, by Hector "El Father" with the song "Cazando Voy". Los MVP's is Angel y Khriz's own CD where they present the listener to soulful hits like Ven Baílalo and Te Quiero Ver Hoy, as well as De Casería (featuring Divino) and the up beat Ram Pa Pan Pan.
The Design Squad shows start at 4:30, 6:00, and 7:30 p.m. at the Fine Arts Building.
The Design Squad Cast who belong to a hands-on PBS television show will demonstrate taking raw materials and with very little adult intervention, transform them into workable solutions. The series presents kids using activities that have a scale and complexity that will excite the viewing audience, and motivate them to do these activities on their own. The main purpose of this program is to increase Student's knowledge of engineering and design process. The program wants to promote positive role models who experience engineering as a fun and engaging process. The Design Squad will be having 4 different shows that will be 1 hour long and they will take place at 4, 5, 6, & 7 pm at the FINE ARTS building.

More ExhibitsThe U.S. Navy simulator that seats 20 people and simulates a flight. Chemistry ShowsAmercian Chemical Society (ACS) presents Festival de Química, a community outreach program for the Hispanic/Latino community of South Texas. Hundreds of children and their parents from the community will get an opportunity to participate in 12 different hands-on activities and demonstrations with an element of the Periodic Table and household items. This exhibit will be limited to the first 1,000 people because of the limited activities. NASANASA will exhibit a Moon rock, an Inflatable Dome, and hands on activities for all ages.
